Ebay

You sell something on ebay 27th July, notification is given that buyer has paid by PayPal but due to the high value funds won't be released until the transaction is complete ie delivered.
PayPal account is showing nothing and PayPal themselves are saying there was no money deposited. Another notification from eBay saying final value fees of £119 will be deducted on the 16th of August.
How exactly has this scam worked?

Paypal sometimes do hold funds on high value items until delivery, but it shows up as payment pending on your paypal account

Ebay are saying funds will be released in 24hrs now but a previous notification said available 16th August. Its the first time I've ever sold anything on eBay, I usually only buy..

A legitimate transaction will always show in your Paypal account, even if held, echeque etc. Always. If it's not showing, it was a fake email. Ebay fees are different and nothing to do with how you were "paid".

Have you posted the item? It is quite common for Paypal to hold payment until delivery proof but as long as you have tracking you should be fine. It does sound like you actually haven't been paid?

Ebay have nothing to do with 'funds', it is PayPal that the buyer sends the money to. PayPal and Ebay are not the same company (although they used to be). Once the seller has received notification from PayPal that the money has been paid it is then up to the seller to dispatch the item. Sometimes PayPal may 'hold' the money until the transaction is complete, but Ebay won't know anything of this. They will only get involved if there is a dispute.

OP, Do you mean PayPal are saying funds will be released in 24hrs or do you really mean Ebay, because if you do it is almost certainly a scam.
