Speeding conditional offer

Hi

I have managed to pickup two speeding penalties in the last two weeks, so fair cop.

I have a question though and advice would be appreciated.

One offence I have no quibble with, 37 in a 30.

The second one was in a car a garage lent me whilst fixing mine.

The conditional offer letter says I was the driver, how do they know I was driving ? They obviously write to the garage first who gave my details but are they just taking the word of the garage owner that I was indeed the driver ?

Secondly, on none of the issued paperwork does it say how fast I was going....

Whats is the script here ?

The garage nominated you, that's why you have received a s.172 request.

You now have a statutory obligation to provide the details of the driver of the loan vehicle at the time of the alleged offence.

Presumably the garage got you to sign some paperwork.

The paperwork will have detailed the specifics of your hire period. They've used that to provide the police with the information about who was driving the car.

If you have reason to believe the garage is mistaken, you can appeal it.

Otherwise, your best course is to suck it up.

I guess I will be sucking it up, which is OK, but how can I find out what speed I was doing ? Is it usual not to reference the speed ?

Ask the garage if the alleged speed is shown on the original NIP.

Won't that just come through on the FPN? You've got to fill out the S172 regardless.
