I had dash cams installed from the censored. During the installation they damaged the car.

The cams caused electronic issues in my car which were confirmed by Porsche.

The censored refered the issue to their suppliers who refused to remove the cameras from the vehicle. They wasted a lot of time which is all documented.

A local specialist removed the cams and also fix the damage. The costs were reasonable.

I asked the censored to reimburse me. They wanted their dash cams back first, the same ones they refused to remove. We had various discussions and their supplier was being awkward and the pick up did not happen.

I gave the censored 10 days to make payment and to arrange pick up however it didn't happen. I ended up having to lodge the claim at court.

The censored now refuse to talk to me as it's a legal case. I still have their cameras which are worth slightly less than my legal case.

The question is, do I just sell their dash cam recover part of my costs or do continue through court which will take 6 months to get to a judge!

Court. I assume the sum is not massive if the value of the claim is equivalent to 2 x Dash cams.

What a strange thread,

You used censored, to fit dash cams.

Why didn't you use a company that knew what they were doing, after all it is a Porsche.

I guess because they were cheaper.

The court is an interesting twist, can they award costs if you lose?

Don't be stupid and sell the cameras what planet are you on?
Wait 'til the court thing is concluded otherwise you may put your case at risk.

Court case. It's the only way these companies learn.

What damage did they cause? usually they would just use a kit that plugs into the fuse box and uses an existing fuse, would have thought it was hard to mess that up.

Why are you surprised that the censored won't communicate with you if you initiated Court proceedings? Why are you also bemoaning the fact that it'll take six months to get before a Judge if you issued in the first place?

you're going to have to let the proceedings roll on. If the censored have any legal knowledge, they'll issue a counter claim for the return of the dash cams too.

This.

Like going to Halfords and asking them to do *anything* to your car. Sheer lunacy and asking for trouble.

Your car is OK now and yes, you are out of pocket but highly likely in my opinion Halfords will settle with you before it goes to court.

So just sit tight and see what happens (but of course prepare your case in the event they do let it go to court!)

They are probably a bit shell shocked at how firmly and quickly you have moved things along as most if not all people back out at the stage where they did not bother picking the items up.

Not sure why Halfords would settle a claim brought against the censored?!

Addressing some of the points above;

I've used the censored for almost 20 years. Their service has been outstanding. I used the censored shop thinking they would have the same level of high standards.

Unfortunately they were not the cheapest so pricing was not a considering factor

The matter has been going on for over 3 months hence why it's now a legal claim. The censoredwas taking little responsibility and referring it to their supplier to reach an agreement. I'd given them adequate time to resolve the issue but no progress was made. Id then threatened to take it further i.e. to court however this didn't make much of a difference. I had to then play my hand.

Unfortunately the censored Shop refused to take ownership of the issues. They kept saying I needed to work with their supplier to reach a solution. Their supplier was IMHO being unreasonable. I reminded the censored the contractual agreement is between the censored Shop and the customer. Their supplier has nothing to do with the transaction and all legal action will be addressed to the censored (in the name of their legal company)

They damaged the alcantara roof lining during the installation. It's beyond me - no idea how they managed to do it. Also the supplier refused to remove the cameras so I had to get an independent guy to remove it and the wiring.

I have no issue returning the cameras. I have no need for them. Unfortunately their suppliers were unable to arrange collection in an amicable way. They were being awkward and putting conditions on the return. They expected the product to be damage free. I advised them there was a scratch on the body of the camera and also I didn't have their 16gb SD card (worth £4) anymore and I'd replaced it with a much bigger card.

So you claim that they have damaged your property, and now you're admitting that you've damaged, and lost a part of their property (either yourself or the person you employed to remove the cameras).

I'm sure they will question how you can damage a camera by simply removing it.

My monies on a counter-claim coming your way.

At this point the cameras still appear to be OP's property.

This... you started legal proceedings so you now deal with their legal department who may be willing just to wait until court and either offer to settle or proceed.

I think you're right. Just need to see the legal process through.

For the record, the cams have been in my car for 7 months. The scratch is about 1cm. It's all part of wear and tear which is expected for items which are used.

I have email evidence to show I've tried to return the product. I have no issue with a counter claim.

So somebody damaged the OPs car installing a product so poorly it caused other issues and that makes him a Karen?

Alternatively you could see if they would be willing to go into mediation?
