Bought a car from a Trader, now he's lost the V5 and History

Bought a 2011 Astra diesel estate from an Ebay trader on the basis it had a full service history and V5 with it.
Went to see it and he had forgotten the paperwork but had his wife send a pic of the V5 as proof he had it. Never saw the service book.
Had the car delivered and 'his wife' had forgotten to put the V5 and service book in the car but he promised it would be posted out that day by next day guaranteed delivery.
Didn't arrive. After a week he claimed it had been returned, as 'his wife' has sent it to the wrong address but he was going to send it out again.
Week later it hadn't arrived even though he had sent it recorded again.
Its now 3 weeks since I bought the car. I haven't received the V5 or service book and he won't reply to phone calls or texts as to where it is.
I know I'm going to get flamed for this - in hindsight should have refused delivery when it wasn't in the glovebox, but once it was unloaded it was a bit difficult.
However any advice?
I'm going to have to pay £25 for a replacement V5 before I can do anything as I don't have the tear off slip.
I can replace part of the service history as I can get a replacement book from Arnold Clark for £28.
Also being a Vauxhall the carpass info is missing which he assured me was in it, so thats another £25.
Managed to the find one other dealer that serviced it, but that is only half the history. So I can't get any proof of history from 2016 onwards.
So by the time I've posted things back and forth its £100 I've got to pay.
Also as and when I sell the car I'm taking a hit on the value. I wouldn't have paid as much for it and it won't get as much if its sold. So I want to ask him for some money back, probably 20% of the purchase.
All in I want to ask for £350 back from him. Have I got any right here?

Sorry, but you've bought an nine year old car for £1750 (based on your 'claim' for £350) and think that a lack of service history is worth £250 to the value? Nope. I think that is unreasonable. If you were happy to accept delivery with no service history folder, you can't really complain about it later. You should have refused delivery. Or not paid for it. If someone is being flaky about something you deem important, then it's very unlikely the situation will ever improve.

This is a very valid point that was hovering at the back of my mind when I posted above but wouldn't make itself known. The car might be stolen, stolen recovered, two cars welded together, somebody else's car altogether or belong to a finance/loan company.Breadvan72 said:

Thats why I bought it in the end. I need a winter shed that I won't worry about parking in central manchester!He's got a compund (field) full of cars all reposessed, so plenty of assets there. I'd consider £25 for MCOL maybe just wondering how easy it is.
I have the Autocheck report that its full legal and am completely happy with the receipt from him. Been reading a lot on the DVLA and it does go oon about V5 not being proof of ownership.

I don't think anyone is disputing that. Nor is anyone being a knob as far as I can tell. The missing service history is not worth what the OP thinks it is, and we've let him know this. We have also suggested he checks who owns the car and if there is any outstanding claim against it. Was it a classified ad or auction ?
