Yesterday, waiting for a pupil.

Pupil comes out of house and asks one of the school Mums to move her car. Blocking a residential street

School Mum refuses and rather than move, hooks one up and gobs in my pupils face.

Police only interested if we can identify the driver.

We have the tissues used to wipe the dripping spit off.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Should certainly be recorded as assault. Theyll then need to justify why theyre not pursuing the matter.

Is the School Mum known to be a parent of a pupil at the school where I assume you teach? Is the car regularly used to drop or or pick up at the school?

Ask for a meeting with the neighbouthood officer if there is one. Press for action. The car is identifiable and the driver should possibly be identifiable from the car. Maybe contact local media.

Can't the Police send a S172 to the registered keeper of the vehicle shown in your photo? If this process can be used for speeding it should certainly be used to investigate such a disgusting act.

Exactly as per above - its not up to you to identify the driver, the police have the power to do this very easily. I would be livid if they weren't going to chase this up.

What. The. Actual. fk...is wrong with people. At what point, as parent, picking up their kid, in public, during a pandemic, does that ever...EVER...become a reasonable response.

Even without all those factors I think that response is about as low as a person can go.

I would be asking the head of the school to send an email out asking parents not to spit at the children. Then I would be asking around the school if anyone knows who drives that car as you want to have a word with them about spitting at your child.

If this is fact then the first thing you need to do is phone back and make an official complaint.

This is as straightforward an assault as they come (not just during this pandemic) and it is the duty of the police to record the crime and investigate.
