Worried I will get reported for this

Hi, sorry if this sounds like a stupid post but I'm just looking for some reassurance.

This is what happened.
I got into what I thought was the correct lane to join the M4 (the middle lane in the attached image) and during slow moving traffic I realised that I needed to be in the furthest right Lane (M4 W). I moved over to the right lane without looking properly (I know, really stupid of me)and heard two vehicles beep at me for I presume cutting them up.
No collisions occured and the driver of I presume one of the cars that beeped beeped again as they passed me and gave me a filthy look. I apologised.

I know it's stilly worrying but I'm worrying now that I will be reported for this.

What's the chances of people reporting something like this to the police and what if anything would be done about it?

Sorry for the silly post but this was a genuine mistake due to it being my first time on this particular route.

Zero and zero.

My metric is that if someone has time to beep, it wasn't that close. When accidents happen it is a shriek of brakes and "bang". Beeping means they had loads of time to avoid you and then decided to beep. Beeping generally means "you have inconvenienced me" rather than "I've had to take massive avoiding action".

But in general do look when changing lanes.

If you are yourself of the type who loses it quickly and wants to or does report everyone, then maybe this would indeed make you worry.

Otherwise there really is nothing to worry about. It could not have been that bad or dangerous so nah, worry not.

Anxiety is a real thing. To be fair, I have the occasional fear of ending up the wrong end of a DCW sending in footage to the cops, although I gather they are scrutinised/triaged quite carefully. Had an abandoned overtake a couple of weeks ago which wasn’t unsafe, but was distinctly untidy... and the car behind wasn’t impressed!

OP. How long have you been driving? This is standard fare, people often need to change lanes, people often feel the need to admonish them. Shrug it off. A waved apology helps.

1) tidy up your overtaking
2) police have got better things to chase after

I dare say you could have done this in front of a marked police car and you would have got nothing more than than some blues and possibly a quick lecture on how you should mirror, signal manoeuvre instead of just changing lanes without looking.

From this and your previous post OP I would suggest you avoid ever driving in busy city centres or complicated junctions as I fear you will become a nervous wreck in minutes.
