Advice on refund on a car deposit

Hi guys,
Happy new year
Hoping you may be able to help / advise! I recently put a deposit on a second hand focus through a dealer.
This was assuming the car had sync 3 entertainment system,
Upon looking closely it appears the dealer has used stock interior pictures of the car, and has both pictures - 2 photos shows sync 3 and the other 2 show sync 2. However in the description it does say sync 2 but I didnt spot this as was buried in amongst other text.... 'Standard features include- Alloy Wheels, Body Coloured Bumpers and door handles, Air Conditioning, 19 inch alloys, Dual Zone Digital Climate Control, Electric Full Leather/Heated Recaro seats, Sat Nav, Cruise Control, Reverse Camera and Park Sensors, Ford Sync 2, AUX/USB connection, ST Style Pack, Rear Privacy Glass, Door Edge Protectors, Bluetooth, Voice Control + Audible text messaging, Auto wipers + Rain Sensors'
I'm just wondering where I stand in terms of a refund? I was particularly after a car with the sync 3 as have heard it is a much better, modern and up to date system,

Distance sale or showroom sale?
If the former, you can cancel the purchase. If the latter, there has been no misrepresentation, so you are stuck with the deal that you made, and may forfeit the deposit if you do not proceed. Nothing was buried. You just failed to read the description properly.

It seems a bit odd to me that one of the principle decisions for making a purchase of a specific car is what stereo it has.
Surely, things like driving characteristics and performance, practicality for your requirements (kids, boot space etc), fuel economy (if that matters to you), style/looks, running costs, reliability, purchase price etc are a bit more important?
Each to their own, I suppose. As a side note, I am sure I have seen some people write that they have upgraded sync 2 to sync 3. I may be mistaken.
You will most likely get your deposit back. Just ask them rather than the PH collective.

It's not unusual for someone to want a particular feature on car. Now the OP had got his answer, I don't feel guilty about going off course a bit... It's just me but I find the whole huge lists of features of the modern car buying idiom to be utterly perplexing and somewhat tedious. Having just replaced my trusty VW touareg as I'd worn it out, with a very low miles 3 year old one I'm still trying to work out what gizmos it has and hasn't got!! It's the perfect car for someone with as little imagination as me but I can't figure it out!

ETA the dealer was very prepared regarding the distance selling regs if that's what they are called, and explained exactly how I could return the car if it wasn't what I wanted. Perhaps the OP will have a similar experience.

Thanks all . Some very useful / helpful replies (and a couple of not so!) but appreciate the input.
The reason for wanting the sync 3 is so i can have the apple car play. When I'm paying top money for the car and using it daily small things like this will make a big difference to me.. just a personal choice. The sale was purely over the internet, a trusted dealer i believe who deals in performance vehicles. The rest of the car I cant fault but ive seen one identical for less money ,same low mileage and has the sync 3

In support of the OP, the difference between Sync 2 and Sync 3 is quite significant. Sync 3 supports Android Auto / Apple Carplay (Sync2 does not) - and in my opinion it does a very good job of this.
Less in support of the OP - it's extremely easy to check the full specification of a Ford - there's an online system ITIS / ETIS or something - put in the registration number and the full specification of the car is there to see. It's a 2 minute job to verify that said car has the specification that's important to you.

Distance selling rules are now contained within the Consumer Rights Act 2015. EDIT: Sorry, The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. If the OP agreed to buy the car by distance sale, he can cancel the deal without a reason. If the OP did the deal at the showroom, then the position as to the deposit depends on what terms the OP agreed, because the reason for cancellation is the OP's inadvertence.
