A90 Average speed Cameras

Hi guys,

Late night for me last night, was travelling down to dundee from Aberdeen around 0030 7th January. Completely forgot to slow down as I went through the 50 zone at the Laurencekirk Junction so was sitting at 75mph on the dash.

Anyone know what I’m likely to get for this? Also has anyone had any dealings with speeding tickets during covid times? Could the fact we have gone into another month long lockdown affect anything?

For the record I have 3 points already on my license for an incident in the same place around 2 years ago

Any help of advice would be appreciated.

EDIT: forgot to write that the area is average speed camera’d

Best advice is to wait and see, if you're lucky you won't get anything in the post in the next few weeks!

I've occasionally on the A9 been over the limit without realising, thought I'd receive a ticket but nothing came of it.

Sit back and wait, fingers crossed.

Fixed Penalty of £100 and 3 points up to 76mph.

OK, it's a Leicetershire link and Scotland can be different however they use similar guidelines (apart from speed awareness courses). I understand that sentencing in courts in Scotland can be harsher than England & Wales but if you are ofered a fixed penalty and accept it this isn't going to court.

Just to let you know it’s been 14 days and I still haven’t received anything? Would this be a good sign?

I went through a few years ago and was flashed at 72. £200 fine, 3 points. After being reported to fiscal and pleading guilty by post.

It’s a total nightmare of a junction, I fully understand why the speed limit is there however that road is so mind numbing anyone who drives it on a regular basis with cruise control on will have sped through the 50 at some point

I know at least 3 people who have been done on that section. I've always been puzzled why. There are literally 8 foot signs that illuminate "50" if you travel above 50 towards them - one for each lane north and south bound. They are hardly subtle about the limit change.

Having had 3 speeding tickets in my life I'm certainly not going to judge anyone for being caught speeding, but I do find it perplexing how people manage to miss the signs. It's not like a hidden camera van or unmarked car.
