At least the article differentiates between advice and law, but I do not think that one arbitrary opinion/decision suits all situations. I am confident that there could be numerous circumstances which make journeys necessary.

Last time I looked the legislation allows you to go out for goods or services you have purchased.

I think a car is still goods.

It hardly needs dismantling. Going to get a car that you have bought is a reasonable thing to do. Reasonable is a very broad concept.

Um, I think it would be rather difficult to persuade a court that it is criminal to purchase a vehicle from a private seller but perfectly fine to do so from a dealer.....

In any event, the question is whether or not it is a "reasonable excuse" to travel to purchase/collect a car. Given that we can travel to purchase and collect other chattels, again it is difficult in my view to suggest a car would be somehow different.

And finally, it also requires people to actually consider these rules/laws sensible and acceptable and that they should be complied with. I do not.

Indeed. I'm not quite sure how we are in such a lather about covid law. It's all pretty weak. I get the whole problem of minister's wishes being enforced as law principle, but in reality how big a problem is it? We'll be out of covid by August and the whole thing will be a grim memory lost to time by august 2022.
