Advice on after death arrangements.
Discussion
Never had to deal with this before so please bear with me.
My partners elderly father passed away on Tuesday,he was 82.
He has 2 children,(my partner and her brother)and had remarried some years ago,his surviving wife is unfortunately in the grips of dementia, but still at home.
She has 3 children,2 of whom have been great in looking after my partners late father in his final months at home.
All my partner knows(by text message) is that her father passed away,we seem to have been met by a wall of silence by his wife's family despite asking for fundamentals such as where he currently is,funeral directors, solicitors etc.
This is causing my partner a great deal of anxiety as you can imagine.
What are our first steps in dealing with this?
Many thanks.

Firstly, sorry for the loss...

We know the death has been registered,it has appeared in various places online, she's trying to find out about funeral arrangements etc,is it a case of phoning round the local directors?
Sorry if I'm coming across as dim,we've never had to deal with anything like this before.

Sorry for the silly question but you have tried phoning all the relatives & not just relying on text/email etc?
She has tried everything apart from just turning up at the house.I understand they will be grieving also, but my partner needs to know what is happening with her father.
Firstly, sorry for your loss. I'm presently arranging my own fathers funeral so understand what you may be going through.
I just wanted to point out that funerals have a maximum number of attendees at the moment and all names and addresses need to be provided in advance of the service. Please make every effort to get your names on that list as the stonewalling you are experiencing may make it difficult to attend otherwise.

Is your wife’s brother in the same ‘wall of silence’ position?
Unfortunately yes he is.Its understandably starting to arouse suspicion.
Both my partner and brother were in regular contact and on good terms with him before his departure, its just very frustrating trying to get any information at all out of that side of the family.
