Seller mot lies & question about RETURN FASTER PAYMENTS

This is a strange one!!
I'll try and keep it short/ish!
Friday 29th of last month, at around 5:52pm, I transfer money to a car sellers account for a car on the provision it gets a fresh mot (its previous mot had run out) and car delivered to my address.
At 10:36pm I get a message from seller saying " haven’t received no money yet."
The following day I call seller on his "landline" asking if he'd received the money yet, he replied he'd check and get back to me.
A few minutes later I got a text saying he'd received the money about an hour ago and would have the car mot'd and delivered on Monday.
On Monday I text his mobile asking for an update, he replied the car was just in the mot station and will be with me this afternoon.
Car arrives at 8 something pm. Straight away I could see it had no mot and if it did it would be a dodgy one.
Anyway, after continually checking up on the Check mot history site I message the seller on Tuesday to ask if the car passed its mot. I still haven't received reply. I'd still been thinking on what to do for the next couple of days and checking my bank account on the 4th I found the payment i'd sent to him had been reversed on the 2nd!
So, what gives?

Can’t believe anyone would send money on this basis. Fantastically lucky escape if true.

Fiat Punto mk2. Not in bad nick. Everything's there and everything works. It drives good and has only failed it's mot once and had two advisories since 2005. It's done 53k. It's definitly been looked after, although it has dents on the wings and a couple of rust spots on the roof. Hardly a scratch on the bumpers!! Could do with a T-cut though.

Most of his cars have no mot. Some of his ads promise an mot on purchase, which he probably has the habit of going back on, maybe hoping the buyer doesn't notice for a while!?Probably moves location after selling a few, which I know he's done on two occasions.

Well, it’s your call now op. You are in a fortunate position where you can judge the car for yourself and see if it’s worth it (I imagine now that you’ll have to MOT it) or call the guy and tell him to pick it up at his cost. I wouldn’t be surprised if he just leaves it with you as he must be out of pocket with delivery charges both ways.

As above, did you get the green V5 slip with the car as proof you are the new buyer? or did he give you the whole V5 and expect you to sort it.

Look at 'Date of last V5C (logbook) issued' - If the seller has transferred the car to you (which is done instantly on-line) it will have Monday's date. If he has posted it off, it wont show for a number of days. You could ask him if he was done this on-line?
Also, the MOT status is instant as soon as the garage enters the test and prints the cert. If thats not showing then its not been done. You would have thought that the MOT print out would come with the car... Have you checked the glove box?
Good job the money got sent back to you as you now hold the power to get it MOT'd and reduce the cost or ask him to collect and get it done.
