Speed limit signage

A driver is complaining that the signage for the speed limit he was booked for exceeding was inadequate. I don't know whether it was or wasn't but note the logic of the councilor that the number of drivers speeding through the village is somehow an argument that there is no need to improve the signage.

The signage is fine, I drive past regularly, and the streetlights tell you the limit as well

Yes, but councillor, it's probably the people who don't drive past it regularly that are going to have an issue with it.

Is this what is known as 'a slow news day'?

Dr Rosen gets caught out 9 years ago, drives past again one day and doesn't like the signs, gets into lengthy fight with council which goes on for several years, gets nowhere so then informs the press.

Or am I missing something?

Forgive me, but what's wrong with the signage?

It's signposted on both sides of the road entering the 30 limit, subsequent to which there is street lighting so no need for further signs.

It's the councillor saying 'I won't improve the signage because drivers keep ignoring the limit'.

It's almost as if his attitude is 'if we improve the signs the drivers will slow down and won't get the speeding fines they deserve'.

But why is it getting reported now? I have no idea of the location but I'll put money on the signs conforming to legislation.

To be fair, the arrangement is slightly odd coming out of Church Grove when turning left onto Amersham road. The 30 limit terminal sign on the far side of Amersham road is directly in from of you so you can't read it edge-on, and you would not normally expect to see a 30 Terminal sign on the left only a few yards after passing a derestricted terminal sign.
