Balls. I'm so cross with myself.
Stretch of the A4174 I've always thought was 70mph limit, nope, it's a 50limit, just received a NIP for 69mph in a 50mph limit, guess it's time to suck it up like a big boy & take the pain, the 3 points & the £100 fine. No speed awareness course offered as I was over 64mph.
I even saw the BIB & checked the cruise was set to 70mph.
Cross, mostly at myself, annoyed, but could have been so much worse, glad I was in the merc & not the Porsche

There has been a proliferation of 50 mph limits on roads that were previously NSL. There is one on the rural B road that my access connects to. Not a single one of the local residents wanted it - I canvassed them all when it was introduced. It's made no difference to the accident rate: when people crash, which they did before - usually leaving the road all on their own - and still do from time to time, it's mainly because they are over the alcohol limit, drugged up, have no idea how to check their tyre pressures or have other Darwin-related issues. Even a 30 mph limit wouldn't save these folks from themselves and most would ignore it anyway.
There have been quite a few camera vans around the A4174 over the last couple of weeks. Where was the van that caught you? I have seen one in the southbound layby between the Willy Wicket roundabout and the Downend roundabout on a couple of occasions but curious if it was elsewhere on the ring road.

) I figured the £100 odd for a SAC was a fair swap for the potential penalties for what I have got up to over the years.

More annoying is actually getting nicked after so long - I managed 31 years then got done for 36 in a 30 in Llanwrst - which was very stupid of me as I am there a lot and there is ALWAYS a speed trap there. I knew it would be there. Duh!
Luckily 36 was eligible for a SAC.
Similar to me - 56 in a 50 where I know they site the van and I always slow down. No idea what happened on the day, didn't even see them or know about it until the notice dropped through the door! First time nabbed in 42 years of driving. Speed awareness course was decent though!Luckily 36 was eligible for a SAC.

Its a bit silly as it's a hill so I can ride my pushbike down it at 35+ but can't do the same in my car
I was once told off by the Polis for doing 40 in a 30 on my push bike down a steep hill. I stopped at traffic lights at the bottom and he rolled down the window. "if you were in a car sonny we would have nicked you". No furious cycling charge luckily! Its a bit silly as it's a hill so I can ride my pushbike down it at 35+ but can't do the same in my car
