Speed Awareness Course prices

I've been nabbed for speeding, it's annoying but I'm not trying to weasel out of it, I was caught bang to rights and that's that. I've been offered the chance to do a Speed Awareness Course but they don't issue the prices on the initial NIP form. Just wondering if anyone know what the latest prices are for the Bristol area?

£80-100 usually. Unfortunately, I can't check the prices without being offered a course.

I think my recent course in October (East Yorkshire) was £85, certainly around that number.

Also hugely likely to be online, and thus the same as the rest of the country.

Online ones are a strange mix of those Parish Council YouTube videos, and gross technical incompetence on the organisers part. Likely to lead to around ten minutes of actual teaching content, with the rest of the session being "can you hear us" and "close the meeting, and rejoin"

Thanks all, I thought it might be more than the fixed penalty but the link posted above shows it to be around £90 for Avon and Somerset so it could be worse. Yes I suspect it'll be an online course due to Covid restrictions at the moment.

I'm not planning another, as it seems they've stopped the 'observed driving' part of the course now, so it's not worth the money

The only one I did (some time back) was a couple of hours in the morning in a classroom setting, then an hour driving around being given 'feedback', and another hour in the classroom reviewing what had happened during the course...with everyone saying more or less the same thing.

I think the 'instructor' was pleasantly surprised to be driven around Kirkby in an M5 rather than in a Micra or other shoebox that others had come in - and probably understood why my response to the "Why do people speed" question was "Fun" rather than the more common "In a hurry / late for a meeting" answers.

...and yes, I was totally aware of my speed at the time - just not aware of the copper and the recently-changed speed limit (was 70mph on Monday, was 60mph on Tuesday, and 40mph on Friday). Luckily I was caught near my junction, so wasn't doing my more normal 60/70mph for that dual carriageway.

Is everybody now too afraid to fight the latest ticket scourge ? Too cowed by the system and brainwashed by all the Brake nonsense propaganda much of it spread by the usual posters on this site ? Just roll over, pay the tax and get screwed?

I'd be challenging the evidence, at least make them take it to court and try to prove it. Perhaps your car was 'borrowed' by a neighbour who since returned home to Poland for example ? Plenty of avenues to explore...

Cue the usual Brakists to start posting their usual horsest propaganda..

It is called taking responsibility for your actions.
If you know you have done it, and it has been detected 'properly', then why not take the penalty?

A virtual neighbour from Poland might land you in Jail.

I had one a couple of years ago. On booking I noticed there was a swing of £25 between different areas.

So, I chose the cheaper one. Partly on price, but mainly because there are some good driving roads local to the training centre.

Presumably the course prices have been cut in the last year since they moved online so don't have to rent a classroom and have cut out the the observed drive ?

The one I did on Monday cost £88, and was on Zoom. If you don't complete the course because of a connection issue, you have to pay a £45 rebooking fee.

About 10 of us on the course, which the "trainer" did from home. Not a bad little earner!
