Stopped by an unmarked car - well kind of

So this is bizzare. I checked my driver side mirror and a blacked out mercedes was starting to overtake from a way back. Think b road.
The kid inside me wanted to use some of the 400hp I have so I did.
For fifteen minutes both me and the blacked out mercedes embarked on wholly irresponsible driving. There were two bodies in the car.
There were a couple of traffic lights where the car was directly behind me. At one point, I said to my buddy I'm not sure that's an unmarked car. Something didn't seem right. The guys were in plain clothes.
A few miles down the road I legally (albeit the only legal thing I'd done with the car) overtook a car.
Sirens came on and blue lights. Copper stopped at my window, his passenger tapped his finger at his head several times then drove off.
I'm a little confused at the situation. It's been years since I embarked on the boy racer type behaviour and I've generally kept my enthusiastic driving to selected situations. What was unusual was the mercedes had significant opportunity to stop me, at one point I enthusiastically drove around a roundabout with them right behind me, and if I was the copper, I'd have stopped me when I accelerated whilst a car was overtaking. Bare in mind, I was already the wrong side of the speed limit before this car caught me and started to overtake.
Anyway, once the teller offers get their part out if the way, I find it very hard to believe that police officers in any guise will partake in this sort of behaviour. It was wholly illegal and irresponsible but seems crazy that they would quite comfortably witness and themselves break the law repeatedly for quite a length of time

Possible that they were undercover officers on some operation - drugs, firearms, terrorism etc type of thing and were maybe suspicious of you, hence following whilst they checked up on PNC etc.
Wouldn’t want to get tied up in paperwork etc - from what I know if firearms officers get involved in a stop, they want to be off as soon as possible- often have large areas to cover.
There is probably more undercover stuff going on than we realize. My sons FIL was a cop who would follow folk on his motorbike for days on end gathering intelligence
Likewise the police had been tracking the guy who was shot off J24 of the M62 for a considerable time whilst they gathered evidence.

saw a black c class with blue lights in the grille and windscreen and privacy glass and a 3d effect illegal plate, with the raised carbon fibre look lettering and a private reg number on it attending a bad crash on the M8.YMMV etc.

It caught my eye because I had never seen another unmarked car like it.
Sounds like you need to simmer down your driving on the road by your own admission it wasn’t great, I’d worry less about the safeties behind and take it as a warning before you get stopped and fined. I got done by a body cam for enthusiastic driving, so I imagine if real you will get a letter!
