Bizarre Insurance Query
Discussion
This is probably one for Twig, I have some insurance experience, and have dealt with similar claims, but unsure on this one.
My Cousin has parked her car on the farm where they keep their horses, a sheep is kept on the farm, but isnt owned by the farm, the horned sheep has damaged the car on 3 occasions, they have asked for the sheep to be put away while on site, but the owner of the sheep has let the sheep out (Not the Farmer)
Now I understand the principles of what happens if the sheep had escaped the farm and caused damage, but as its not the farmer letting the sheep out, and the damage was caused on the farmers land, what are the chances of being able to recover the cost of the damage from either the farmer, or sheep owner?
Thanks

Ahhh...another ram raid
It all comes down to her agreement with the farm where she keeps her car, combined with negligence and what would be deemed reasonable.
1. Does her agreement with the farm make them responsible for all damage to the car whilst on the farm?
2. Do the farm say that she keeps her car there at her own risk?
3. If 2 is correct, they aren't necessarily off the hook. Has the farm, or the owner of the sheep failed in their duty of car towards her. Have there actions been unreasonable?
4. Is she paying to store her car there or not?
And lots of other questions.

Yeah, part of me thinks that after the first time it was damaged, the fact she kept taking her car there, may leave her partly liable for some damage.

Just dont want her making a claim and then not being able to make a recovery, and increasing her premiums.
Will try and get a bit more information, but im inclined to suggest she speaks to the owner/farmer to see if they will deal privately.
