ANPR on Multilane roads

I've always wondered - say, on a Motorway, if you've got three lanes, average speed cameras to the side of the road, and a high sided lorry in lane one, if you pass the lorry in lane 2 - you have no physical sight of the camera, so how can the camera capture the VRN on small cars when this scenario happens?

It can't but you don't know which camera's are connected so to be safe you would have to do that for every single camera that you passed.

In terms of ANPR cameras as per the title, they have a camera for each lane to reduce the issue with obscured cameras and miss reads.

In terms of average speed cameras though, yes high sided vehicles will often obscure a read.
