Finding who owns land adjacent stream

Good morning all,
I am trying to find out who owns the land at two sites. The part I am particularly interested in is the river bank which is directly accessible via nationally recognised public foot paths. I need the info for wildlife survey forms and don't actually need to contact the owners, just list who owns the land, I'm assuming the riparian owner.
Any idea of the easiest/quickest way of finding out, I don't particularly want to have to pay for the info as its part of a free survey.

I've found the Canal & River Trust to be helpful before depending on where in the country you are, they have a map on their website with the areas they cover but if you message them they are pretty good at pointing you in the direction of where to look if it isn't one of theirs.

Thanks, I will give them a try, its a very small stream so I imagine whoever owns the field will own the stream

I've highlighted in yellow the land adjacent to the stream, looking at it the stream is connected to the highway and it doesn't look like it belongs to the field, am I reading this right? it makes sense as on the OS map its a marked public footpath

Looks like it's unregistered, so likely public/council owned. The footpath may or may not be inside the unregistered area, hard to tell!

Thanks Gareth, assuming these plans are accurate the footpath would be inside the unregistered/council land

unregistered land can still be properly owned. At least I hope so because I’m currently buying a house, where the seller has owned it for 50 years, and it isn’t registered.
