What is a Category C insurance payment?
Discussion
Wife had a minor no fault collision a couple of months ago which was all repaired to a good standard using an accident management company.
It was a low speed incident, nobody was injured, far from it.
I now keep getting calls from "Esure" by someone in their accident support team saying we are due a "category C" payment following the accident as the 3rd party insurance sets aside X amount to cover the claim and any excess over the cost to fix the car can legally be claimed to cover any distress etc.
Which sounds like a load of b
ks.
they are suggesting I'm due circa £2500 and i'm just interested as to what their game is. Obivously if I took them up on the offer and I got a fat cheque it will ulitmately push up insuirance for all, but worse case they are doing something nefarious and this is some sort of scam.
i've already asked them 3 times to take me off their list, they bloody don't though.
Anyone got any experience of this at all?

Who hasn't got experience of this, frankly.
If you're in eyeshot of an accident you'll probably end up receiving calls like this.
a) It's probably not Esure.
b) "If something looks too good to be true"
You've pretty much got it right in your first assessment though. It's basically an insurance swindle... "maybe you had an injury you didn't notice at the time??"

So... Company A is trying to give you money, you say you don't want it and they continue to chase you to try pay? Can't imagine any legitimate company not accepting that you want to waive your right to the money and rubbing their hands together at the fact. I'd be fairly positive it's your typical insurance swindle that's just not worth being involved with.It was a low speed incident, nobody was injured, far from it.

Block the number and forget about it.
Yes, blocking the number is my next move.
I'm just curious as to what would happen if I went along with it. Nobody got hurt, nobody suffered any real distress, actually I ended up getting a bit of rust sorted out properly so I was chuffed with that!
Would the company basically fabricate some sort of psychological trauma that I'd have to sign up to, then they put the claim in?
It really is properly bent that this sort of stuff exists really.

Maybe I'm being overly cynical but it sounds like you're thinking of going through with it, and are framing the question as "what might happen if I do try and get this free cash?", rather than trying to avoid the calls entirely.
When you said about "if I took them up on the offer and I got a fat cheque" in the opening post alarm bells started ringing, but I gave you the benefit of the doubt.
Hmmm.....

You're selectively quoting the OP totally out of context there. You didn't even quote the full sentence, let alone the paragraph or the surrounding points made by the OP.When you said about "if I took them up on the offer and I got a fat cheque" in the opening post alarm bells started ringing, but I gave you the benefit of the doubt.

The OP has made it perfectly clear that they're not in the least bit interested in going through with this activity, and they're trying to understand what there is in this scam for the company calling them up as well as wondering if others have had the same experience. i've already asked them 3 times to take me off their list, they bloody don't though.

Fair enough, some OPs are trolls or blatantly misrepresent the facts, but why is it that some people are so keen to jump down every single OP's throat and accuse them of ulterior motives, not being truthful, making things up, being the person who did the deed rather than others, or not genuine hypothetical questions and musings, and all sorts? Just give it rest!
I will own up that this is far from something I know the details of, but I think that there have been agreements on 'sensible' payments for personal injury between insurance companies to reduce the overall burden of costs. The down side seems to be that some of these lower amounts can just be waved through without much evidence / question and now firms are trying to take advantage of this by ensuring you get the payments and no doubt taking a slice of it for their hard work.
