Uprating a previously downrated vehicle?

About to register my fresh import pickup. 4900kg gvwr is factory weight.

I only have a B licence so going to register it at 3500kg (it weighs like 2700) by just reducing the payload.

At a later date I get my C1 licence is it just a case of sending something off to dvla to rate it back to 4900kg?

People downrate transit vans etc all the time from 4 ton to 3.5 ton. Almost every american pickup I have seen for sale has been downrated to 3.5 ton for the average buyer. Was wondering if you can just uprate it again at a later date back to how it was if I was to do my test.
