Rights under warranty

We bought a 6 months old Mercedes last year with less than 5,000 miles on it. It now has about 13,000.
Recently the car showed a warning light that impacts the emergency braking, cruise control and hand brake.
The garage has the car in and said it needed a software update which they did. The light went off but about two weeks later it came back on.
The car went back in and they said it needed a new part which they had to source from Germany.
Two weeks later the part has just been fitted and two days later....same warning light.
Quite annoying as you can imagine.
Legally what are my options?

Who did you buy the car from?
If a Mercedes main dealer then I’d keep taking it back under the approved warranty and seeking a courtesy car every time it went back.
If anywhere else it really depends on the warranty that you got with the car.

Your first claim is within the warranty period. The same symptoms are occurring after the attempt to fix it so you should push for full repair until it is fixed. Unfortunately it is as PIA to have happening. Where do you stand for a courtesy car?

Why would they try to wriggle, they're a main dealer and it's under the manufacture's warranty until 2023, so no skin off their nose, except for the dire warranty hourly rates and repair time allowed, but that's common to all manufacturere'rs these daysKeep pushing though.
