I have just had a fine in the post for not paying the congestion charge. Im fine with that but the reason i didnt pay it was because it was on a Sunday,my question is have you always had to pay on a Sunday, i thought it was free on a Sunday, is this a recent change?

You have about as much chance of a successful appeal as I do for circling the block, and dipping into the CC for fifty yards. You're a grown up in a ton of metal, know the rules.

Ironic that Khan extended the congestion charge during lockdown with probably the lowest level of traffic in London since cars were invented.

Condition of the deal reached with the DfT in return for receiving bailout funds for TfL.

I'm going to guess it's a more extreme version of - if unsure, check before deciding to travel into a congestion charging zone? getmecoat

I know but to charge more for congestion when there is none is farcical.

They will be reducing the charge next to encourage more vehicles in to raise more money to repay the bail outs smile

It was an ideal time for it to be snuck in (by the Govt) when covid was at its peak

its put me off driving into central london at times when the old CC wouldn't have existed.

Except he didn’t.

What he did do, is reduce the billion £ deficit that Boris left him and just prior to Covid, has managed to build up cash reserves of nearly 2 billion.

Thank you for writing this. I'm not a fan of Khan myself but he gets a hell of a lot of blame for things that he didn't do. TFL was running just fine, financially, before the government understandably placed restrictions on travel. Now Boris is using the severely weakened financial position of TFL to extort more money out London as a whole and everyone who wishes to travel here whilst the blame all falls on someone else.
