Missing parcel issue.

Hi Guys,
SWMBO is a crafter. She has a monthly subscription for a craft kit, which we both look forward to arriving, Mrs.Chips as it gives her something to try her sewing skills, me because it gives me a bit of peace and quiet!
However, the July parcel didn’t arrive when expected. After a week, Mrs.Chips contacted the company, who were very quick and efficient in sending a photograph of the parcel being apparently delivered to one of our neighbours. Unfortunately, said neighbour appears to have gone on holiday, so we can’t check if he does in fact have the parcel, until he returns.
There are a number of issues. Firstly, the information received from the supplier suggest that, if the neighbour did take in the parcel, why didn’t he give it to me in the week before he went on holiday?
We saw him at least twice, so he could have mentioned it then. Secondly, the photograph, shows the neighbour standing at his open door, but the parcel is still in the hands of the courier. So does this count as proof that my neighbour did take in the parcel? Finally, the courier didn’t leave a delivered slip with us, telling us that the parcel was with my neighbour, which is why we didn’t go and ask for it and had to contact the supplier to query the problem.
What do we do next? We are hoping that the neighbour returns on Saturday and has the parcel, but what can we do if he says he doesn’t have it?

P.S. Please don’t suggest sausages in neighbours lawn, he doesn’t have one! Likewise, he has no pets, so any suggestions about bumming his cat would be wasted!

Few weeks ago I ordered some trainers direct from Adidas. They confirmed despach, so I waited. Parcel tracking widget said it had been delivered but I had nothing from Royal Mail. There was a picture of a "signature" though. I waited a week, then rang Adidas who apologised and refunded my payment.
Out of curiosity I went to the sorting office and showed them the picture on the tracking widget. The guy went out the back and returned with my parcel.
Result = free trainers!

This week I ordered three bathroom accessories from m&s. Only One of the items arrived but also included two jazzy shirts. Phoned up to explain and was told one of the items was out of stock and would be refunded and the other item would be sent out. Could I drop the shirts off at an m&s the next time I was in. Money for out of stock item was returned within a few hours.
Today all three items have been delivered on top of the one I already had. I phoned up to tell them and there couldn’t have cared less and was told to keep the additional item. They didn’t seem fussed about the fact I had already been refunded for one item either.
I will return the additional jazzy shirts but it’s pretty clear they don’t care if I do or don’t.

Local DPD driver takes a photo of the customer with the item now.

I wish I’d thought about this as soon as I realised my neighbour had gone on holiday. Sadly, I think he will be coming back on Saturday, so I won’t have enough time to do it now. Order turf to cover area.

I actually get on quite well with him. Which is why I was surprised that he didn’t give me the parcel on any one of the 3 or 4 occasions that I saw him in the week before he went on holiday.Bit harsh to be directing any ire towards him.
You could be right, he may have been waiting for me to ask for it, which is why any ire I may or may not have, is currently directed at the courier service.
I will update as soon as I have any news.
I once ended up with quite a collection of neighbours parcels. I was in all day WFH they were out so without asking me they told all deliveries to drop off at my place. Up to 4 deliveries a day .
First week i dropped them round. No thank you just took packages and closed the door.
From that point i just chucked them in my garage to see how long before she came round. 2 weeks and about 30 packages is the answer.
Bonus comedy value when she knocked and asked if i had any deliveries for her i say yes but im busy come back tomorrow then closed the door.
It got boring quickly after that so just either refused to accept them or if dumped on my doorstep chucked them out on the pavement. And when i say chucked i mean kicked off the drive.
