Those cheeky scamps at Parking Eye have sent me a letter. Basically we were on holiday and had gone to Weymouth for the day. I had parked for 5hrs 30mins, and Parking Eye say that I have only paid for 2 hours. There was signage at the car park that said "upto 6 hours = £3" and that's what I have paid, but after a quick Google as I went "huh?" it appears that this is a winter rate, so why that sign was still up on July 27th is beyond me.
Having just cleaned up dog sick and stopping bickering kids, having a read of my parking ticket was not high up on the priority list, and why should it be, if I have paid what they have written.
Now this is where it's going to be fun, as it's my word against theirs. Hindsight is 20/20 but the ticket is long gone and it was a cash only meter. I have found an image online of said sign (this car park is apparently notorious) but will this be enough? I refuse to pay a fine because they can't sort their administration out by having the incorrect prices displayed.

I have got out of a ticket with Parking Eye by throwing myself on their mercy in an email. Leased company car so 'ignore' was not an option. Explained why I failed to pay for the correct car and pointed out that I had actually paid but against the wrong reg, so they had no actual loss (unless by a massive co-incidence the new owner of my previous car was parked there on the same day). Got away with it

You have to be psychic to know them.
Weird though!Could it be the image you've got was taken in winter? (just scratching about)
Send them that pic and appeal it, tell them to take you to court if they feel they've got a leg to stand on. Perhaps also suggest that if they wish to take it any further you'll be inclined to involve the local paper, to highlight the fact that no dount plenty of others have been fined under the same circumstances. I doubt they'll be too keen.

I've included that pic in my appeal information. Let's see!
Good Luck. To the poster who mentioned taking pics of where you park, I do this as a matter of course now when I park somewhere new. Ticket and Signs. Takes 10 seconds. Not had to use them yet but nice to know I've got them

Looks like the wrong sign tariffs are displayed.
However the sign shows from October 1st to ??? (Usually March 31st) are the rates displayed.
Also your ticket would have had an expiry time which I presume would have been the summer rates.
Try to get them to see your side of this but they may just throw what I have said into the equation.
It’s bad when these things happen but ultimately the responsibility lies with the car driver.
