Morning all,

Just used the A303 westbound there's a old Gatso Camera on the Hill not knowing the area there was a slow car in left lane I was presuming its 60mph as it shows national limit sign. I ve gone to over take up hill realised there's a camera there.

Camera did not flash 3 questions

1.) Does anyone know if this is working ?
2.) If it did not flash is it likely it did not trigger as its a fairly overcast day ?
3.) What's the speed limit for a car on that section ?

Any advice or knowledge would be appreciated

Thanks

Isn't the camera on the hill going west outside that?

We were in a traffic queue going very slowly past the camera in July and it looked abandoned. The painted markings on the roads have gone too.

I know this is an old thread but does anyone know if it’s still live? I think I got caught by it just before Christmas. I was fooled by the one-lane-into-two layout with a 40mph limit. I think I hit 55mph+ going up the hill.
I’ve been up that hill so many times but this time had a momentary lapse of concentration. Got that sick feeling, waiting for the letter. Ugh.

I'd be very surprised if any of the old wet film Gatsos are still working. Certainly in the Thames valley everyone I've seen is abandoned.

I think each force has to provide calibration certs for all its camera. Have you had a google to see if its there?

I can mirror exactly what you said a couple of years ago. Nothing happened and as others have mentioned there's no lines on the road.

No fixed cameras working in Wiltshire. Definitely not old Gatso’s. They’ve been dead for years

The hill with the camera is NSL

Thanks everyone. That's put my mind at rest.
I've got dashcam footage and I didn't see any flash, so that's also reassuring.
Basically I need to be more careful.

As I see it, it's 40MPH through Chicklade and stays that way, long past the top of the hill with the camera.
To me it looks like a crawler plus overtaking lane, not a dual carriageway, so I'd definitely have been caught if the camera was working.

Andy needs to work on his observational skills 😀
It is a NSL
Also a consideration coming the other way down the hill where a light brake application may be required….

Yes, I clearly do need to be more observant. It is indeed NSL.
At the risk of being pedantic, I've reviewed the dashcam footage and noted the key signs leading up to the camera:

Gatsos catch the rear of the vehicle as you pass them, not going towards them
