Lost Recorded Delivery

I sent of my medical along with my licencefor a HGV renewal and it got lost.

The Doctor now wants another £100 for fillingout the form again and my licence is gone so i guess i needto pay for that and the photo and all the post office isofferingis £50.

no way of getting more i guess?

I believe the standard cover is £50, and you have the option to pay a higher premium for more compensation/cover.

So, how much extra insurance did you pay for? That will be your answer to how much you're likely to be able to claim!

BTW, you did keep copies of everything, didn't you?

FYI, recorded delivery is the same as normal delivery except you have proof of delivery (so the recipient can't say they didn't receive it). The risk of getting lost in the post is no different.

Special delivery is more appropriate for something you'd rather not get lost.

We recently posted something recorded delivery for work, 2 weeks later its still not arrived but royal mail are basically saying it could be 20 working days before they consider it lost.

Which translates as more time for the sorting office staff/postie to get rid of it before they open an investigation.

Its amazing how many things can get ripped and just fall on the floor without anyone realising.......

I haven't signed for any courier, recorded or signed for delivery since about April 2020.

Signing has been suspended for 18 mths as we dont want to pass around 1000 peoples germs forr obvious reasons.

OP have you tried track and trace on the RM website to check where it is?

If our experience is anything to go by its at DVLA but in a huge pile that may or may not ever get sorted.

One of our lads can't get any sense out them and has been waiting since October, he's sent paperwork in 3 times now for a simple hgv renewal.

My renewal was sent by special delivery & took about 9 weeks.
