Average Speed Camera Query - A40 Eastbound

I'm trying to figure out if average speed is measured from a certain start and end point on the A40 eastbound. See details below:

Route start point and end point (heading east):

There is a camera at the start point of the route as shown in the pic below. There is also a similar camera at the other end of the marked route. Pic below.

There are no cameras in between.

I'm not sure if the camera at the start of the route will be linked to the camera at the end of the route. Or, the camera at the start, will only be linked with the other cameras in the westbound direction.

Does anybody know what the answer is?

There is when you're on the A40 but none on that particular slip road to join the A40.

I've understood, by what I was once told by a traffic engineer, that you can be timed between ANY TWO SPEED CAMERAS IN THE COUNTRY. So, apparently, you could drive at Mach 1 from the last average speed camera in a sequence, and brake like fury as you pass the first in the next sequences down the road. Thus your Mach 1 time between the two is known, and you could be in line for a naughty boy letter in the post.

That's for the regular speed camera on the A320, not the average speed cameras on the A40..

That's probably nonsense because I know people in London who, in between certain sets of average speed cameras, have definitely exceeded the limit, then slowed down for the next set of average speed cameras. They've never received a ticket.

I can tell you with good authority this isn't true. Thankfully! Forces can't even do this in the same county - the cameras are set up in groups and work in isolation.

I drove up from Shepherd’s Bush this morning to turn east, there was a camera near the roundabout and a second one at the end as you come off the flyover, so I would say - yes !

Those are the two I'm talking about but I'm not sure if the first one just tracks drivers going west or both west and east.

Interestingly, if you do this route heading west, there isn't a camera as you come off the A40, down towards Shepherds Bush. You can, in theory, go as fast as you want.

I was told they COULD be linked quite easily if anyone was/has bothered to do it.

Wish I had known that …. 30mph all the way along there and then 20mph from Shepherd’s Bush green nearly all the way to Wimbledon common was painful in the extreme !
