Yep used eversure for 4 years now, never needed to make a claim as yet, but we cancelled the last policy a week after renewal when the pandemic kicked in and they were fine, no charges, asked if we wanted a refund or for them to hold a credit for the next renewal. Seem like a good outfit

I've had a policy with Questor Insurance for about 5 years now - the price has always been around £38pa for full cover in UK and Europe. Can add ROW if I want to. Never needed to claim so far, so can't advise on that but they seem a decent bunch to deal with.

I've had that recommended to me, but unfortunately their website payments system has been down since this morning and I've got a second car turning up tomorrow. frown

I used Allianz a few back and had to claim.

They were very good and quick in dealing with it. Named claim processor who talked me through it and then sent out the forms and the list of required info they needed.

All went smoothly and was that impressed I did my house insurance with them come renewal.

bd hire car company though - that damage was there when I picked it up. Typical el-cheapo place who see knackered punters coming a mile off.

If the damage was there before you took it, why didn’t you show them and get them to note it on the form, never understood how people get caught out like this

Indeed. All it takes is a quick walk around with the hire car rep and some pics on your phone before you leave the premises: no bother after that.

Has anyone ever claimed on an Eversure policy, or know someone who has?

I picked up a car from europcar in heathrow. Car was wet, no obvious visible damage. 3 weeks later i had an email with a quote for repair of somthing the size of 5p on the front wing low down. Price was £580. Weeks later i got another quote for alloy wheel damage on a different car £200 or so...
Now i photograph the cars on pick up, some of the cars I've had from europcar have had hundreds of tiny bits of damage on them, very hard to get the damage sheet right. I believe the check in people have a bonus if they find damage too.
The companies do not repair the damage (at least the small damage) they just charge the customers for the damage and auction the car off as is at the end of its rental life. If they get a few customers to pay £500/dent then they do very well.
I never use Europcar now and havent had a problem since.

For excess insurance i have used Zurich, similar price to the above quote except it also covered vans.

Sorry to hear of your woes, eniacs.

TBH, I find it's as much about your manner as anything else: if you look like you know your way around a car and take the trouble to inspect it properly, they probably won't try to pull the wool over your eyes.

Have had some places in Southern Europe that when you do that the car rep has effectively shaded the entire car in with blue biro.

I went through years of regularly travelling to and from heathrow in hire cars. Never had a problem dropping cars to heathrow, they seemed to not have the time to check them. But giving them back in plymouth was a problem, it was fine for years then all of a sudden 2 claims on 2 seperate cars in a month. They pick the car up from my house and so i never heard anything until they tried to claim from me. Probably that branch just decided they weren't making enough through hires alone and decided to start getting income from other sources lol. Didn't work as i never paid and never used them again.

If you have 5 minutes to spare, have a read of "Gold car" reviews in spain on trustpilot. Thousands of people stung by the damage claims process every year and its still going on year after year.
