With the exception of possibly exceeding the speed limit (it's hard to know, although I don't actually think the overtaking vehicle is doing 40 or less
but it doesn't look as if it's doing more than maybe 50ish) it looks to me to be a nicely judged pass in a good location, on what looks like could be a road without many safe overtaking opportunities. Possibly a local driver with good knowledge of the road and the sight lines etc...
I realise we may not have the whole story from prior to this clip, but junction aside (still not illegal though), I really struggle to see the problem with this overtake? The junction is obviously clear, the road ahead can be seen to be clear, and there is a broken white line??
Seriously, it now seems to be an offence to overtake anyone, anywhere.
If these type of incidents lead to this sort of punishment, we may as well give up.
What boils my piss too, is that I've noticed the people that get so stty about being overtaken often have inoperative or faulty lights, and quite possibly are those that drive everywhere 'safely' at 35mph...with bald tyres etc...pricks! (Honestly, if the police decided one day to check the tyres and general roadworthiness of all the cars parked in my local supermarket car park, there'd be a lot of people walking home, it's unreal.) Maybe I should start taking photos of illegal tyres and sending them to GoSafe 
As for those that drive at 40mph in a 60, carry straight through the 30 limits in villages at 40, then flash and beep when you pass them at 60 when back on a NSL road...

Might have something to do with the way they cut the corner and barreled up to the bus.
It didn't look like a controlled overtake and looked careless in my opinion.
I don't think the visibility was great with the lorry and bus in front and they could've been hiding a motorbiker or cyclist coming the other way.

Watched the video again and clearly well above the limit going up the hill in the 40, also overtook with a junction to the left and an upcoming junction on the right. That's what made it naughty.
Fact they ignored the FPN/Request for driver details and didn't have the correct licence is probably what took it up to 6 points and sizable fine.
Edit:- Actually watching it again, I'm not 100% that is a junction on the right, looks like a dirt road but not 100% if it joins the main carriageway or not.

I honestly didn't realise this meant they didn't actually have a licence. Sorry, you lost me. If this is a reference to me, I fail to see what 'stirring' is going on. I'm actually hoping to learn from other people's responses (including serving police officers who post on here), because as per my OP, up until now I would not have said that was a DWDCA offence.If they had no licence then they can go to hell, I have no time for such people. ). The only 'scary' thing about it is the driver's incompetence, which is unsurprising in the circumstances. popeyewhite said:

Initial overtake fine, leaving village very clearly, though above the limit. Broken white lines, two bends only (safely done), no visible tailgating. You're watching the clip in the OP? skodaphile said:

But that's a fundamental issue which renders this thread pointless. The text says the camera car was overtaken, which happened before the clip that is posted.
