Garage Damages Car Whilst Collecting

Quick question as I'm a little miffed at the moment.
Contacted s dealer (specialist) to sell my car to, told them of the few faults I was aware of and they wanted to collect it for inspection as it was their policy.
Told them I wasn't too happy, but eventually agreed.
Pick-up driver turns up and as the battery had died, needs to get in via the hood.
He gets in, moves the car and I notice a 6" tear in the rear screen which horrifies me. He then takes the car to the specialist.
I then get a list if things that need doing including a new rear screen and told they don't want to buy it.
Now I can deal with the no sale and the list if bits to be done, but really not too happy about the rip in the hood caused by them.
I'm told that the hood was old and fragile, but it was in an unripped watertight state before they tried to get into it. They said sorry, but there's nothing they can do.
Now I'm left with getting a new hood for a car which I wanted to sell due to damage caused by the specialist gaining entry.
Don't want to sound 'bleaty', honestly

Not ideal and a bit of a bummer but how would you have got in it? Maybe, if you knew someone was coming, you should have got the car ready yourself and fully charged, ready for collection.

Without evidence he did it without permission you are on a weak claim.
Replacing the rear clear screen is not an expensive job for a repairer if the hood itself is ok.
A couple of years ago my mate had a complete new mohair hood and clear screen made for his Morgan for about £300 by a local chap with an established business and good reputation. It was a good finish too.

No, he didn't know and had to be told on the phone. He didn't use the secret way nor did he charge the starter to get enough juice to open the door with the key, which is what I was expecting, as the AA do that. Battery is in the passenger footwell by the way.

it is unless relocated to the boot...So whats damaged, rear plastic screen? A new roof is around £425 plus fitting, so I can understand your pain, but would that make it more attractive to a buyer. What else is needed.
