nothing new, the police have been using software that can accurately work out speed from videos for a long time

I warned Harry about it some time ago

I bought a go pro 9 years ago, used it for a day and later examined my handywork, I destroyed the SD Card and slung the gopro in a draw

Theyve been able to do it long before the software arrived. All they have to do is the simple speed/distance/time calculation between known points.

What's to say they didn't speed up the footage though, the audio can be kept at the same pitch. It's just a one click option in Premiere.

Filming yourself doing this and posting it on social media is stupid. But seeing the footage I’d say it seemed right place right time, clear dry conditions, good visibility. Yet you get other morons on YouTube driving like throbbers in city centres / towns.

A little casual spur of the moment blast up to and beyond the speed limit where appropriate I can accept, and wouldn't really bat an eyelid at if I witnessed it.

Two guys driving down with the express intention of using a particular road as their own personal racetrack, no.

Why should we feel any sympathy for them exactly, or indeed slate Steve Callaghan - whoever that is here on PH - for doing their job?

We haven't seen the video, so we don't know if they were "using the road as their personal racetrack" (c) Crown Prosecution Service. Obvs Callaghan's website will tend to present the case in the most heinous light possible. And the bloke himself is not exactly squeaky clean.

I agree that uploading footage is just asking for it though, and prosecuting people from the footage is like shooting fish in a barrel really.
