Caught speeding on motorway but not pulled over

Firstly, yes, I am an idiot.
The other night I pulled onto the M1, 60 limit for a few minutes... car in front of me and car behind me, car behind me pulls into the right hand lane just as we where approaching the 70 speed limit change, we get passed the 70 speed limit change and the car in right hand lane is still doing 60 (behind me with enough space for me to still overtake the car in front of me), so I dropped into 3rd and booted it.
Not entirely sure what speed I got up to but it was at least 90 as 3rd gear takes me to about 90-95. I don't think I hit 100 but I can't be entirely sure...
I then slowed down to around 70/80 for about 2 minutes and noticed the same car behind me earlier was tailing me as I switched lanes
In the left hand lane now approaching the slip road he lights up the blues for a couple of seconds turns them off then leaves on the slip road.
What are the chances I'm going to get somthing through the post? Not sure if it matters but it was just a normal cop car, no undercover or motorway patrol vehicle (so not sure if they will have speed equipment on board?)

Plod was being nice to you. If they wanted to pull you for speed, they would usually need to sit a certain distance behind you for a certain amount of time/distance. They may not have continued if they needed to leave at that junction for some more important reason.

None of the people I know in the force think like that (the joy at others suffering).Generally they are of the view that having to deal with people is a bit like having to clean a loo someone else has used, it's a chore but part of the job.
They'd rather not have to prosecute, because they'd rather people weren't breaking laws.
I only know a few plod though and they are all Brits. It may be different in other places.

As others have said, a little warning to slow down and don't drive like a knob

I'd be surprised if it goes anywhere, you got up to whatever speed then slowed again.
If it was going anywhere it requires an NIP to be served on the Registered Keeper within 14 days not including the day of the incident so if you want to worry about it keep an eye on the postman until the 14 days has passed.

had the same thing with an unmarked XC90 on the A14 near newmarket..
we were both in lane 2 of 2, volvo in front of me (i was in our i3) the car in front of the Volvo moved over, Volvo accelerated, as i did, but clearly he was only squirting, i was intending to go faster so i closed the gap quite quickly - to which he gave me a flash of the rear blues.
I shat my pants, moved into lane one and immediately slowed to 67. Sheepishly flashed my lights to 'thank' them for the warning and say sorry.
Everyone was a winner in that scenario IMO, massive respect for how they dealt with it.

Was this J12-J14 area out of interest? Had something similar about a year ago on the M23….
Came off the slip road on to the motorway at J10 at about 75, and continued accelerating to at least 85 as I went from lane 2 to 3 (I was in a lowly 1.3 Micra) - a grey unmarked BMW came up behind me quickly, overtook, and pulled in front and lit up the blues - I crapped a brick, his scrolling sign said “watch your speed”.
Fully expecting to be pulled, he just shut off the blues, and continued at 70, as did I… suitably chastened I behaved myself the rest of my journey home

Mine was many, many years ago, heading North bound @ 2am on a Monday morning in the summer, coming up to the Watford Gap Services.
I was tootling along at @ 100 mph, when up ahead I could see blue flashing lights at the exit of the Watford gap services.
I lifted off, and rolled past a marked Police Patrol car that was sitting in the chevron section between the services exit slip road and the main carriageway, still doing @ 80mph.
As I passed the Police car, the blue flashing lights were switched off, but it accelerated rapidly, at first sitting behind me in lane one, and then pulling up alongside me.
I looked across to see the Officer in the passenger's seat wagging a finger at me, and shaking his head, whilst pursing his lips and tutting at me.
They sat there for a short time alongside me, and then sped off up the road, leaving me behind.
I'd obviously been spotted on the cameras, reported to the patrol car up the road, who decided to sit and wait for me, and then give me a bit of a: "You're not really bothering anybody, but don't take the pi$$ mate!" telling off.
This has happened to me while heading for the Channel Tunnel - I was belting along at a scratch under 90, there was a white X5 at a sensible distance behind me, matching speed. I'd clocked him, no plod livery. My spidey senses were tingling a bit that there was an X5 not up my arse, but he'd had the opportunity to nick me, so I just kept going. After about 10 miles, the blues came on, he drew level, made a gesture that (I think) was "slow down", and he roared off.
What I would say is that while fast, my driving was spot on - very sensible gaps, perfect lane discipline, nothing silly at all. Given the quality of the driving that you constantly see on UK motorways, my suspicion is that plod have a full-time job dealing with genuinely bad drivers rather than people going fast.

I'll stop people going fast and give words of advice where appropriate, and tickets where appropriate. I asked ^ regarding the J13/J14 because did exactly that to someone there recently. Sometimes a dose of the blues as a reminder of "you never know who's around" is the best outcome for all, presuming the rest of the driving is in order.
