Windscreen replacement claim cost?
Discussion
Filling in details for insurance quotes - in particular, the "Have you made any claims" section....
A claim was made for windscreen replacement a couple of years ago, but I have no idea what cost was billed to the insurers.
If the claim is marked as 'windscreen replacement', are insurers not really bothered by the 'actual' cost - and should any figure be entered in the claim value?

For normal Insurers yes, the sharper end of the market penalise for glass claims.
So few words, so much nonsense. I suspect many people who check their policies will be surprised to find that their Insurer penalises them for glass claims. If you want expert guidance ask Glassman on here.
Simple way to check is run quotes with and without previous windscreen claims on the comparison sites.
I know when I did this as I was expecting a speeding fine (SP30) I found the cheapest insurers just did not quote at all - effectively loading me £60.
Would not expect the same with windscreen claims but you never know.

I've always specifically checked that windscreen replacement at the smallest excess is included in whatever quotes I get as a couple of my motors have very expensive screens in them. Even with the same insurer (Admiral, I think) there was only about 20 quid difference between one with windscreen coverage to one without. Turned out I made the right decision as one of them got a roof tile on the screen during the storms in November - dealer price for the screen alone was somewhere north of £900 so a well invested few quid over the 4 or so years I've had the car. Your insurer at the time should be able to tell you, or it might be on the renewal letter you had at the time.
Mine says £ 170 as the value of the claim. Incident type was Windscreen Glass
I suspect this is lower than the real value ( since the recalibration of the sensors must add some cost)

Had a £4000 windscreen claim in a supercar and paid the £50 excess.
Made no difference to my NCB or following years cost with admiral and they would of known claim history.
It seems to be separated from the main car insurance hence the specific cover for it.
Otherwise the whole car could be broken down inti expensive components

Are they asking for the actual cost? A claim was made for windscreen replacement a couple of years ago, but I have no idea what cost was billed to the insurers.

Would be strange and not indicative of market rate because what they pay to their nominated repairer is often less than what you get the glass for (if they're on an average invoice deal).

It doesn't take long to run a quick quote with and without windscreen claims, doing so shows Vikingaero is correct, they all go up you are talking bo**ocks.
(I'll post screenshots of the quotes in another reply below)
