Weight restriction: what does it mean
Discussion
bumpity as I'm still not clear on this
https://www.swindon.gov.uk/info/20135/traffic_mana...
"However, all environmental weight limits have certain exemptions which allow access by:
vehicles making deliveries or collections at premises within the restriction
vehicles working on or near the roads in question
emergency service and military vehicles
buses, coaches and other 'public service vehicles'
other heavy vehicles that are not goods vehicles"
Is this the case even when the sign doesn't say "except for access" or whatever ?
How are drivers supposed to know the difference between a 7.5T environmental weight limit and a 7.5T bridge weight limit which if exceeded will cause the bridge to collapse?

Serves me right for posting this thread
Today we had a delivery of tiles.. except the delivery driver saw the sign and refused to drive through. I had to drive up to his lorry, transfer 250kg of tiles and a pallet into my car then drive home and lift the same 250kg into the house.
Anyone want a pallet?

Isn't there any other route to get to your house? If not that would be somewhat inconvenient.Today we had a delivery of tiles.. except the delivery driver saw the sign and refused to drive through.
