Another roundabout accident

I'll make this short.
4 lanes on a roundabout and I'm in lane 2.
Car veers in from lane 1 into lane 2 so I sound my horn. He them slams his brakes on and our vehicles make contact.
All whilst doing less than 20mph.
Nobody hurt but a broken headlamp and front bumper damage to my car. Damaged rear bumper to the other car.
I'm positive that the other driver caused this by slamming his brakes on but without a dash cam or witnesses cannot prove this.
When I got out of my car our cars were still in contact with each other and my argument is that if the guy didn't have his brakes on, one the accident wouldn't have happened but the fact that the cars remained touching proved he had his foot hard on the brakes.
If his foot was not on the brakes surely his car would have moved away from my car after the time of impact as we were both travelling in the same direction.
If I hadn't sounded my horn he wouldn't have braked so maybe it's time to move on?
Is this likely to go any other way than 50/50 or should I just move on?

if you went into the back of him without witnesses or footage you're going to have a hard time getting 50/50 let alone full blame on him IMO
I understand what you are saying.To be clear it was my passenger side front that hit his rear drivers side as he moved right into my lane.
I think it's a mistake to think anyone has "right of way" at a roundabout - some people seem to believe they can come steaming in from the right at high speed. My recollection (which may not be correct) is that the code says something along the lines of give way to traffic that's already on the roundabout without specifying a direction.
My own annoyance is people who turn right at a roundabout after entering in the left lane. Makes life difficult for everybody else who's taking amore conventional approach.

I'm not blaming the OP, but having seen enough dashcam videos I try to be cautious on large multi-roundabouts. The bigger the roundabout the more likely it is someone will be in the wrong lane or simply cut across without looking. And more importantly, this type of person doesn't react well to someone using their horn, and more often than not will brake check the person they've just cut up. Sometimes best to take a deep breath and let it go.

He could have chosen the brakes. At 20mph he would have probably stopped within those 2 seconds.

Why?HOWEVER the car veering into lane 2 obviously did know the OP was there, that's why he slammed on his brakes, because the OP sounded his horn.
If you ran into the other car, at only 20mph, I'd guess most people would suggest that you should have been more careful - always assume that any other driver is new/thick/less confident/mad etc.
If you used the horn then you clearly knew he was there and, at 20 mph, could have probably easily avoided him.
Just one of those things, annoying but not the end of the world.

There is a Range Rover whose route through Stroud requires right turns at 3 roundabouts. He approaches each in the LH lane & turns right with no indication.My own annoyance is people who turn right at a roundabout after entering in the left lane. Amazingly on the 20 or occasions I have seen him there has not been a collision. Plenty of flashing lights & horn blowing though.
