Speed awareness course availability.
Discussion
So, long story short, whilst driving a work vehicle i got pinged doing 49mph on the M5 at Bristol whilst the gantry said 40mph, the previous one said 50mph, as did the one after but i never slowed down enough between the two, fair cop, i can only grumble!
Ive been offered the option of doing a speed awareness course, having never done one before (because i drive like an angel
) i assumed they were all the same, but i have to do the 'National Motorway Awareness Course', all good so far, the letter i received said i could book this online but i did not have to do it at Bristol, i could do it somewhere in a more convenient location which is handy because i live in Southampton, and i fully expected to be able to do it somewhere local, i should add i wanted to actually attend a course, i didn't want to do it online.
Needless to say ive been a bit surprised, and a bit irritated to find that the closest place i can actually attend a course is at Swindon, hardly local, and hardly convenient, especially being as traveling that distance id much rather go by train and the course is nowhere near Swindon station, the next closest is actually at Bristol, but again, nowhere near a railway station.
The locations available to attend the course are Swindon, Bristol, Taunton & Exeter in the West (plus a few places in south Wales)...... Basildon, Medway & Asford in the East and to the North my closest options are Northampton, Coventry & Bromsgrove...... There is absolutely nothing in the South and nothing in London (surprisingly).
Is it normally like this? Is it some special rare course im going on and if anyone has done it what is involved? Im guessing i will have no choice but to do it online as getting to any of the venues will involve a long drive or a ball ache getting from a rail station to the venue. Im curious why this course isn't offered somewhere more local?

COVID-19 - they went fully online a while back and are only just opening up again.

Do one online, much easier and more convenient. Here's my story
