To update V5 or not?

I moved last Thursday and have updated my drivers license address and insurance details online. Last thing to do is sort out the RK address on the V5.

However, I’m taking delivery of a new car in the next few weeks and will be moving my current car on. Does anyone know how long DVLA are typically taking to turn a change of address round at the moment?

What are the legal implications of not updating the V5 for 2 weeks? I have a mail redirect setup so anything to do with the car will make its way to me.

I will be selling the car to WBAC or similar and have never done that before, will they have a problem with the registered address being my old address? I guess if it takes more than 2 weeks for my updated license to come through I could just give them my old address when selling it.

I can't speak for whether to do it or not, but I've just done a few of our cars to a new address and got all of them within a week (do it online)

Won't the address issue make the car a little harder to sell?
When buying, I check the log book matched the collection address.. (obviously not insurmountable)

If you can do the amendments online through the DVLA website it should be done within a week as it is a full automated process.

I have sold a car to WBAC around 4 years ago and they did check all the address V5 details at the time of sale against my drivers licence, whether or not they would have accepted it had it not matched I don't know but I would err on the side of caution personally and get it changed.

My Son recently moved out and, done online, new V5 was received in under a week.

Thanks everyone. I’ll dig it out for the reference number and do it online tonight, hopefully it’ll be here along with my updated license in time to move it on!
