Parking what to do from here

So I've just had a major run in with one of my neighbours. Basically I'm parked in the spot outside his house aka "his spot" I parked there about 16.00 when I got home from work.
At about 18.00 I went out to get something from my van (vw caravelle so car technically) to be met with "oi mate I'm parking there in a minute" I said we'll your not because I'm parked there and then a barage of abuse started, apparently I'm a
that's deliberately trying to piss him off by parking there and everytime his Mrs goes to the shop either me or my Mrs jumps in his spot.
There is limited parking down our road and he's about 5 doors down on the opposite side, so if I'm parking outside his house it's far from ideal as I have to walk up the street, and is usually because I have nowhere else I can park.
The abuse went on for about 5 minutes of him screaming in my face and threatening to ram my car out the way if I didn't move it, I said it will be moved in the morning when I take the kids to school and he said no you move it now or I do.
He's since had a mate on the doorstep pointing at my car.
So do I back down and move it? Everybit of my stubbornness says don't but if I end up with a brick through the windscreen tomorrow it's going to be impossible to prove who it was and that's going to cost me.
What's my next move?

Trouble is he's got it into his thick drunken head that I do it to piss him off, he said he's getting a driveway and I said we'll you won't have to worry then because I can't park there and he said so you're going to just keep pissing me off until then? No mate I'm going to park where there's a space until then
Trouble is what do you say when someone's angrily saying they are parking where you are parked, telling you that you're about to move.
Wasn't trying to provoke him, I think that bit was done already, he did tell me he was going to ram it out the way and nearly 3hrs later he's hasn't yet, so hopefully that was an idle threat

It's just my family car, I put the kids in and out of it,when you live on a road of terraced houses and have more than 1 car you will always be parking outside someone's house, we get it outside ours, it's a pain but a free for allt but a bit of a dick move to park what is effectively a van right outside his house. Sounds like the kind of bloke that will damage it so how much do you value your 'car'.
Technically there's like a garage block without garages round the back, but it's a massive incovinence, it's unlit and used a cut through as there's an alley there so don't like parking a 20k van out of site of everyone.
It's also down two flights of dodgy decking steps with the kids (1 &4) when I do the nursery run in the morning.

Which raises an alternative incentive to not escalate, since it’s a legal requirement to disclose ongoing disputes with neighbours when selling your property and not doing so can theoretically invite future legal action against you.Take the emotion out of it and make a financial decision. If the worst happens and your car is damaged you’re either going to have to pay for repair or accept loss of value at resale. If you’re prepared to swallow that then leave it there but if not, move it. Easy when you’re not the one caught up in the incident though.

This is my thinking, although then means when there's nowhere else to park I have to leave an empty space and park even further away to appease a bully. Good luck!
Might nip to the shops and park closer, saves face abit then, as he doesn't think I've moved because he's come out shouting.
