TFL PCN Not given a chance to pay Reduced Rate

All,
I received a PCN for stopping in a yellow box junction. I did an informal appeal, but lost the appeal. The appeal decision letter was dated 8th April, but arrived on 23rd April, conveniently wiping out the 14 day period within which I could pay the reduced rate.

I called them and they effectively said, we posted it on the 8th April so tough.

I am really pi$$ed by this, as I have no way of proving when they sent the letter out and when I received it. Is there any point in appealing for the reduced amount?

Shame you didn't follow up with a letter "Hello, I didn't receive anything in the post pertaining to my appeal can I have an update please..."

We’ve just had a card that was sent the week before easter delivered yesterday, so similar timescales.

The poster had asked a few days ago if we’d received it, and both of us had given up hope of it arriving.

Perhaps pay them the reduced amount with a letter explaining your reason?

Surely you would go through the County Court process before any bailiffs turned up?

You were given the chance to pay the reduced rate. You chose to appeal. Of course it will take longer than 14 days to get a letter back. You cant expect concessions.

Yes you can, the 14 days is put on pause when you appeal.

I thought you could only do an informal challenge / appeal if you had the PCN physically slapped on your car?
