NIP received 3 months after alleged offence

Just received a NIP in the post from North Wales police with an attached 'gosafe.org' letter. The alleged offence (36mph in a 30 zone according to the letter) is dated as 26/03/2022 but the letter date is 27/06/2022. Am I missing something or is this clearly well outside the 14 day rule of notification?

My understanding is the NIP has to be posted to the registered keeper within 14 days, hence why I asked.
No idea why that happened. I am sure others will be along soon with better understanding of the process.

Is there a possibility the actual offence was 26.6.22, and it’s a typo?

Were you in the area on the date they claim, or would the above ring true?

I was in the area on the date claimed, although I don't remember exceeding the advertised limit. I've checked my sat nav history to confirm it. I've been the registered keeper of the car for 4 years. Just seems odd, I assume if i just let it go through i'll be offered a speed awareness course but am wondering if it needs a covering letter highlighting the 3 month gap with reference to the 14 day rule?

The last part is what you need to do. Return the s172 part to identify the driver within the prescribed 28 days and enclose a letter suggesting they might want to look at the time scale, also Agtlaw on here has a template which he usually dishes out foc. If all is as you say it is then you should find they quietly drop it. Large time gaps for no apparent reason are historically very rare, but in the last year or so seem to be happening more frequently. I have dealt with 2 in the last 9 months, both were dropped

Do you have the V5/C to hand ? Is your home address correct and has it been updated within the past few months ?

Even if you responded immediately to the s.172 request and didn't enter into correspondence questioning service of the NIP, the timescales involved would suggest the offer of Fixed Penalty in favour of an invitation to attend a Speed Awareness Course.
