Section 75 - Two credit cards question
Discussion
Hi All,
We are currently beginning legal proceedings against our kitchen (non)supplier and wanted some advice around section 75 chargebacks as we might have to do down this route if they don;t pull their fingers out and sort everything out.
They have delivered and installed some furniture and some appliances, but no worktops which means that completion seems a long way away. Initla delivery was in December 2021 so we've been waiting 9 months now.
The total cost of the kitchen is £40,000 (I know, not my decision!) plus a separate amount paid direct to the fitter.
We paid an initial deposit of £12,000 on one card, and a further interim payment of £24,000 on another one. £36,000 in total.
Section 75 only covers amounts up to £30,000
Are we able to make two section 75 claims, one on each card, for the respective amounts, or will we have to use section 75A which provides coverage for transactions over £30,000?
Any advice warmly welcomed, thanks.

Is the 'item' worth 40,000? In which case have you considered that s75may not apply at all and you should use s75a with just one provider?
OR, if the total amount you want to claim is less than 30,000 - can you just wrangle a single s75 claim? My reading is that you have had some work done so not trying to claim the full 40,000.

We've probably got more than £5,000 worth of stuff done so far, however, it's perhaps a matter of:
1) Can we claim under section 75 twice - once for each card. One "item" of £12k (the deposit), and another "item" of £24k (the interim payment); or
2) is this one "item of £45k which means claiming under section 75A?
