You could just learn to park?

Of all the spaces to overhang, the disabled one isn't really the one to do it. If you'd got a ticket as my dad did once for the back of your car overhanging a double yellow by a few inches, for example, then I'd appeal. However, you are, in this case, in a disabled spot.

Almost one for the bad parking thread. Looks like the car park is pretty empty.

While it does seem like a minor infringement across the line, I think the fact that it is a disabled space counts against you.

Access is needed to fully open doors for disabled passengers etc. so I'm afraid I agree with the penalty here.

Whilst you are right I literally nipped into the co op to buy a bottle of water. I was there for four minutes (including the time I took to read the parking notice) and there were plenty of other disability spaces available. (I wasn’t parked in a disabled bay myself)

Yeah you would have to be further into the disabled spot to be fair.

Would need to see the on-site notice really to be able to give a realistic answer. But yeah, looks like a trigger-happy "management" company.

I actually read the notice, but only as far as to make sure it was a car park for the shops.

I have appealed it, but based on the replies so far I’m probably going to have to suck it up.

Oh well. Lesson learned..

It does suck that these places don't have any leniency when the car park is empty and no car tried to use the space while you were there, but that's the issue with these automated places (I imagine they don't just have someone watching the camera)

For the record it wasn’t deliberate. Just careless. Empty car park, I was in a bit of a rush and needed a drink.

Yup could have easily been avoided if I’d parked in the space. That’s not really the question though.

Maybe too late, as you've already appealed, and hopefully not said you were the driver...

But, bad parking aside, you need to appeal properly. What does the reverse say about keeper liability? These cowboys rarely get that correctly, so are unable to pursue the registered keeper. And as you have zero obligation, you would normally, as registered keeper, write to them to say you have passed the document to the driver, and expect not to hear from them again as they have not met the POFA obligations to be able to pursue the keeper (assuming they haven't).. As you've already appealed, you may need to do this when referring to POPLA, if they are part of that scheme.

I had similar, ironically because the guy I was visiting had parked to the extreme left of the bay on my right! I was about 6 inches into the cross hatching on my left (I was in the end bay). Didn't prevent anyone doing anything or inconvenience access to the rest of the car park. Council operated, appealed and was told to FO so paid up.

Sorry to say but I don't see that you have a get out. They have a rule and you broke it without any extenuating circumstances.

Oops, first parking ticket looked this, so have admitted I was the driver.

Looks like I am going to have to pay up. Not really a problem, but I’d much rather spend the £60 on something useful.

You can also appeal on the signage being inadequate, which I very much doubt you were able to read and take in whilst driving in and parking. If it's worth the effort, at least appeal to whoever they refer you to when the automatically decline your initial appeal to them.
