Speed to green camera flashed me - Leicester A6 London Road
Discussion
Hi,
Basically I was in Leicester on London road and I was not speeding at all and I saw a camera flash me from the opposite side. After doing some research, I found that this is the new speed to green camera and it may have flashed me for crossing a red light. However I’m a bit confused as I am 90% sure the light was not red and that I was doing less 30mph.
I’m confused why it flashed me. I did stop briefly on a double red line before setting off again, and that’s when the flash happened so I was only going max 20mph. If the camera is on the opposite side of the road, did it mean to flash me or someone on the other side? Does anyone know much about these cameras?
If someone could clarify, that would be greatly appreciated. I have also attached a pic of the camera below.
Many thanks.

I can't see how that can double up as a red light camera for you, mainly as it is measuring speed. I'd be surprised if oncoming cameras also work now as you worry they do. The camera cannot get a clear picture of your wheels behind or on the stop line.
Will be interesting to hear from those who do know but in my opinion you have nothing to worry about.

You stopped on a double red line. I would love to know your interpretation of 'briefly'; dropped passenger off? Posted letter, nipped into the shops?
I suspect the answer to the flash is here somewhere.
This, the camera has taken a picture of you stopped on the red lines letting a passenger out. Expect some paperwork for this through the post.I suspect the answer to the flash is here somewhere.
Yeah I’m honestly not too worried about stopping on the double red line as I wouldn’t get any points and it’s a £35 fine. Only reason was, my father was following me in his car and he got stuck at a red light behind me and I pulled over for 5 secs max to allow him to catch up before I realised it was a double red line and when I pulled back out again, I saw a camera flash.
It was all a bit confusing at that moment as I was in a new city as there was a traffic light right after I pulled out and although I’m not 100% sure I didn’t go through a red light, I’m about 90% sure and I definitely wasn’t speeding.
The only concern is the because the camera was the opposite side, I don’t know if it meant to flash me. Because I doubt you get flashed for stopping on a double red unless I’m wrong?
And I think the flash came from behind me, but once again it was all in the moment and I can’t remember. That’s why I wanted to ask, can red light cameras be forward facing or do they only have to be rear facing.

Do red route cameras flash? I thought they were CCTV. It was only max of 10 seconds I stopped there. I suspect the answer to the flash is here somewhere.

Red light cameras can only take picture after you've gone through the red light! That should indicate which way the camera is pointing
