Hi,
Saw a man in hi vis on m69 motorway bridge with a tripod with a camera that looked like a generic cctv one. Was it a speed camera?

Cheers

He would have been measuring distance rather than speed

Ahh but was he measuring distance over time? That’s the big question? (And the question the OP poses)

it will just be someone photographing lorries etc
fair enough not for me but lots of people get something out it judging by the numbers I see travelling up and down the UK motorway system, no different to me being on 24 flight radar waiting for A380 to pass over

Yes, I was convinced it wasn't until I received a NIP (M69, April). I've seen them a few times since, police car hidden out of sight, plod on a bridge in a high-vis with camera on a tripod.

My thought when I saw the title of this thread was - does it matter?

Could it have been? Yes it could.

But, it only really matters if you were speeding & if you were you will know soon enough, then you can update us all.

Was it blue?

The police car down the road is normally to chase bikes/drivers taking the proper piss.

When I saw it, the whole camera and set up looked black to me, but it was on a bridge and its hard to tell dark colours from black from a distance.

DVLA, VNPR looking for untaxed cars, perhaps.

Surveying from a gantry would not work as they shake a lot when a pantechnicon passes below, plus there would need to be second person with a beacon on a live motorway.
