Removing a stolen marker from a car
Discussion
Ok guys, help needed, I’m a car dealer so please go easy on me. I purchased an Audi from Manheim auctions in May 2024, clean title and HPI clear, the car had big gearbox issues so got put to the back of the pile whilst we awaited parts.
We finally got the parts sorted so I went to load the car on auto trader and it now has a stolen marker on it, this was put on by South Yorkshire Police in August 2024.
I called up on the non emergency number and was given the name, phone number and email of the officer dealing with it.
The car was a finance snatch back so I wondered if that was the issue? My suspicion is that the original owner has fraudulently claimed
I’ve reached out to start line motor finance (they put it in the auction) and my account manager, both have no idea why the car is reported as stolen? All three of have tried to contact the officer dealing with it without any response, any BIB able to help advise on an escalation procedure as we’re getting nowhere fast
Cheers
Andy

The only delay for the officer dealing not getting back to you is sickness or leave, otherwise they should at least acknowledge receipt of your email. Keep going with the emails - its an auditable method of contact rather than phone calls.
If no joy - escalate to a complaint
do other officer's not pick jobs up?If no joy - escalate to a complaint
