Hi all,
Just had a NIP come through for a gantry camera on the M1 in my company car. The incident was 21/11 and the date on the document is 16/12.
I dont know if they have contacted my employer or not but would assume they have to to get my details.
Does this fall under the 14 day rule to notify me or would this delay be as they have contacted my employer and they have notified them that I am the driver?

No, AIUI the 14 day rule only applies to the first NIP, which would have gone to the leasing company or your company.

The 14 day rule applies to the initial NIP issue so as long as they have issued it to your employer within the 14 days it is covered, I am sure your employer responded naming you as the driver then you have received a further NIP, I have had the same happen to me in the last month and i'm now booked on a Speed Awareness Course in Jan.

No - the fourteen day rule is to contact the registered keeper of the vehicle. The clock stops at that point.

That maybe your employer or it maybe even a lease company.

It could be further delayed if the NIP gets sent to a lease company, who then nominate your company, who then nominate yourself.

Yeah sorry I don't think you'll get out of it on a technicality.

Incidentally I was always under the impression the cameras only worked when the speed was reduced at that part of the motorway, my bad and wont make that mistake again.

It's common practice for Lease companies to levy a charge for this as the number of NIP's have increased over the years to the point where they have separate departments to cope with the numbers.
Check with your car administrator.

I am intrigued, do you really get a speed awareness course at 86mph?

Yes, threshold is 10% + 9mph so 86

This has come up several times before, and I feel the need to ask again.

Why on earth would you drive through a camera area & think they only work when there is a further reduction?

The posted limit is the posted limit, and that is what is enforced.

Agreed, E-bmw. Perhaps before registering for PH, there should be a list of FAQs to read and tick off. A sort of 'Code for using the Highway' we could call it.

Wow, that was really unlucky. 1 mph less and you wouldn't have got anything!

86 in a 70 limit would definitely be an SAC. I got caught for that on the M6 in May, but because I had done an SAC in December 2023 I got a Fixed Penalty Notice. frown

You don t get a SAC for speeding on a Motorway unless it s a reduced or average speed camera area (or so I was told by everybody on here when I posted!).

My wife got clocked at 79mph on the M6 and got 3 points. I spoke to the issuing force (Warwickshire) and they stated they only issue points for speeding on a Motorway.

My wife got a SAC for also 86 on a Motorway. No reduced speed limit
