More speed camera attacks

Scameras under fire in the UK and Australia

Attacked!
Attacked!
Two more cameras have been attacked recently, one in Australia, the other in the UK. Both attacks put the cameras out of commission.

The UK camera was on Herluin Way, Weston-super-Mare, near where several other cameras have been attacked. The authorities have removed it so £10,000 of repairs could be made. The local scamera partnership said that it believed the internals had been damaged.

In Australia's Moonee Valley, a man used a steering wheel lock to break a speed camera. He was witnessed by a camera operator, and described the man to the police. Contractors said that the machine will cost AUS$40,000 (£17,000) to fix or replace.

So...scams are three times more expensive to replace in the UK than in Oz?

How that work then?

I believe the penalties for attacking a theiving camera are currently worse for those dished out by our legal system for attacking a copper........

Work that out?

Easy, police officers don't actually generate cash and expect to get paid every month. Cameras are not on the payroll, but generate income.
Welcome to modern Britain where the gov't know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

Only £17,000 thought somewhere recently it was quoted at £50,000

Even 17 sounds like a bit of a rip off, anyway with so many being trashed, maybe, just maybe, they will rethink about them.

Keep the trashing up lads, wherever you are.....

Whoooops, just noticed first thread, so why are they 3 times more expensive, maybe the supplier should be investigated

£17,000 is the cost to replace on ein Australia, but they cost £50k here, once you include the backhanders.

Maybe it is the scameras producers that destroy them to get more commissions out of the govt

Keep going boys

Trash enough of them and the scameraships will go bankrupt... Perhaps then we'll see a return to proper road policing

I see that the one on the A227 in Meopham, Kent (Brough Green to Gravesend) has gone again. Twice in about 3 months.
First one bent over, second one looks like sawn off.
Maybe they will give up at this location?

The one about 500 yards up the road came to a sticky end also last year.

Public cameras are only needed in post offices and pastport offices.

Schools should be made areas of high visibility like in France and US and drivers eyes not diverted checking their spped and scanning for cameras.

Does anyone know why they cost that much? Seriously?

There is a digital camera part, maybe £1000 tops if they got a decent one, a case around it, £100 at most, which means the radar thing must cost an absolute fortune, which I doubt, since they are used all the time for automatic doors and parking sensors amongst other things.

I spot a business oportunity to build a supercheap speed camera to undercut all their prices, probably best not to encourage them though.
