MCN Camera Articles part 2
Discussion
Following on from earlier thread this weeks anti camera article contains a letter from Roads Minister Ladyman admitting that increased use of cameras has directly resulted in a reduction of traffic police. He admits that this means other road offences are not being policed.
But then goes on to say that it's all right as the traffic units are then released onto other duties and the cameras are doing their job for them.
What we've been saying just confirmed by HMG.
You know this inceasingly seems like a Govt which wouldn't mind if it lost the next election.

The letter, sent to Don Touhig MP, is in response to a letter to Alistair Darling. Stephen Ladyboy's reply is pictured in the paper, the relevant sentence is;
"The importance given to road policing should not be measured by the number of dedicated traffic officers. Speed cameras, which act as a continuous deterrant, actually free up police time for other duties, including other roads policing work."
