new firearms/shotgun licences?
Discussion
have just moved house and informed the local force of change of address, firearms licensing chap came out to visit and check the security, guns etc.
just recieved the new certificates and they are computer printouts, they look like they will be much more easily forged than the old type with laminated photos, so i rang the licensing guy, he agreed that the new ones are total crap and easily forged, but apparently were a cost saving on the old type!
i would predict it will not be long before guns are being bought on forged papers thus giving the morons that introduced this another reason to have a go at licensed holders!

Sounds about right.
Still, the police with regard to this kinda thing are always really friendly, understanding etc. My last renewal I sent it off a month late, and a small note basically saying I was lazy sorting new photos etc, was Northallerton office, and they renewed it and everything.
No silly admin officers who couldn't work it out, just decent people doing a good job. They are probably stuck between a hard place and a rock with new legislation.
But as per usual, it's those who legally own guns who are not a problem or risk, and all these laws really don't make a difference anyway.
A criminal will get a shotgun whether it's easy to forge a certificate/lisence or not...

Nothing to worry about, crims mainly use handguns and buy them from a bloke down the pub so I don't think they'll bother to forge shotgun certs.
I suppose we should be happy that the govt. banned firearms and stopped gun crime overnight. Wnackers!
