I fancy becoming a gypsy, so went to look at a Hobby caravan. Big huge thing which was 2.5m wide. Just so I make sure I break every law of the land, is this caravan legal to be used on UK roads? I thought the maximum width caravan was supposed to be 2.3m wide, but there seems to be some confusion and some loopholes which allow a 2.5m

Now feck aff tha lorra a yas - the missus is havin a bairn see, yous be victimisin us.

Only when towed by a white dropside lorry with defective brakes, three bald tyres, no tax, no insurance, etc., etc.,......

Byff, you'll also need a 'dag' to go with the 'van.

2.3 m is the widest caravan that can be towed with a vehicle with GVW less than 3500kg.

further to my earlier reply this only applies to uk registered vehicles. Thoughout Europe it is 2.5m width for under 3500kg so a vehicle registered in Ireland would be ok.

AFAIA most Hobby's, LMC's etc that are beloved by pikies and 2.5m wide are also too long.

IIRCC 7m is the maximum length allowed and most are longer than that.

Don't suppose there's anything in that loophole that would allow a U.S. Lincoln Navigator (albiet a u.k. registered one now) to pull one?

I'll be needen a dag, so I will.
